Paris of the Plains Cocktail Festival (aka PopFest) is the first ever multi- day cocktail event spanning throughout the city with competitions, tastings, and seminars beginning August 22nd through August 27th. Its festival and fete with competition and pure Midwest culture. Kansas City is known as the “next” craft cocktail destination thanks to the breed of well established bartenders and the local industry pride. The city takes a close back seat to New York and New Orleans in mixology destinations. Why? It all started with Ryan Maybee and his passion for cocktails and teaching and building relationships within his skill. The craft cocktail master himself and partner Dave Frost are pioneers of this incredible event. Paris of the Plains is an extension the well known Greater Kansas City Bartending Competition in which Maybee and Frost began in 2006. POPFest is designed to propel attendees across the city with cocktails, food, spirits, music, art and culture that Kansas City is known for. The calendar of events is at that includes the ever popular bartending competition and after-party. The finale on August 27thvis a paired dinner at The American Restaurant with the acclaimed chef Debbie Gold.

Unlike other cocktail events, this festival is different because it’s a celebration of the community combined with the talent of bartenders and chef’s with parties, paired dinners, seminars and the bartending competition that started it all. The seminars will welcome some the foremost experts in the industry for super bartending enthusiasts. Topics range from learning about double distilled scotches to the completeness of agave.
